| As one of Jacksonville Florida's premiere
environmental portrait photographers, the following are a few
suggestions I will make for your consideration on your day of the
portrait session.
The first step in the process is the design appointment, which is a
planning session held two to three weeks prior to your photographic
appointment. Here are a few suggestions to help you prepare:
Beach photographs - we recommended them done at sunrise or sunset for
the highest light
quality.
Children - I recommend photographing babies and toddlers in the
morning before 11:00 am. If you are interested in having more than one
child under five photographed on the same day or together, I recommend
bringing along another relative or person known to them to help. For small children, don’t plan too much
the day or evening before a sitting, don’t practice smiling and do bring
along any special blankets, "woovies" or snacks your child finds
comforting. Most of all come relaxed — the magic of life can’t be forced, it
can only be experienced and captured. Children are a fun challenge to photograph.
Clothing - Try to keep clothing choices simple. It will add a
quality of timelessness to the finished photographs. Consider solid light
pastel colors
or basic, simple patterns - for example, long pants on teens and avoid lettering and
logos. I do permit two changes of clothing for an individual studio or
location sitting.
Hair, Make-up and Accessories - Details, details, details – Hair
should be freshly shampooed and styled as usual. It is best not to
experiment the day of the session. Try not to plan a new haircut
immediately before a session. If you wear hair color - fresh is best.
Make-up will need to be slightly stronger for B&W – extra mascara
and well blended blush. Jewelry will detract from the individuals, so I
recommend minimal simple jewelry and a French manicure if polish is
desired.
For Ultra Signature Collection Prints of children I recommend the adult
wear a dark turtleneck and dark slacks with minimal jewelry as they often
end up as props or holding a child in the photograph for close ups.
Parents please come prepared to be photographed yourself with finished
hair and make-up in the event you should want to be photographed as well.
